The hour and a half I spent yesterday ironing my hair? Completely wasted today. The humidity hits you like a ton of bricks and you sweat out half your body weight. Can I shave my head? Or play live Vicky and just have interchangeable hairstyles for different weather???

87F, heat index of 93F with 60% humidity and a 30% chance of thunderstorms. Perfect weather to stay indoors or wear a hat. Or go bald.I would have been perfectly fine with the tying back, but I was trying to break out of the lazy routine I got into the last couple of weeks. Wash, put product, tie up. My hair looks better straight anyway, but yeah. Wasted time.Trying to decide if I'm nice enough to go cover a shift at work because they screwed up the schedule and now they don't have anyone... Don't quite have a ride there, and I need to stop paying cab fair so much, it's getting expensive. And public transportation? No way. Unless they're willing to wait for me for over an hour. Hmph. Not sure what to do.

It's currently 8:51pm, the temperature is 27C with a heat index of 29C. Humidity is 68%, no wind and it would be really freaky if we get any thunderstorms before October! Barometer 1013.

I can do it myself, but of course, it last longer if someone else does it. All bets are off if there is high humidity though. My hair is downright curly right now, compared to how it was this morning when I woke up.

I've felt the difference between humid heat and dry heat. I prefer the latter much more.

Like I was telling a friend, the *only* thing that stops me from fully dropping DS is Morph Follower and the ease of categorization for the library, but otherwise... holy cow, light set up is *so* much easier/nicer/better in Poser!

OMG, a zillion Poser installers. @_@ You have my sincerest sympathies.
Been fluctuating between 60% and 90% humidity, depending on time of day (mornings are very wettish) but the heat has been reasonable. Still, it's "chew the air before you inhale" weather, the sort that's like trying to breathe a hot, wet wool blanket.
New Orleans would be worse, of course; but one can consider Washington good training for N.O.

I swear.... it makes me grumpy.On other notes, seems like what I thought would be a straight forward remodeling of a kitchen will turn into a "let's replace 40% of the pipes in the ENTIRE HOUSE because they're old and don't even have shut off valves". This will leave me broke....

{{hugs}} What my mother in law thought would be a few simple fixes on this house turned into a completely new bathroom, a total re-wiring of the whole house, new plumbing in the kitchen, new windows, new doors, new fence (the collapse of the old one in a wind storm was what convinced her the house needed work), a new roof on the garage, the window removed in the bathroom so that the support which had been cut to make room for it could have a replacement section put back.... I hope yours doesn't turn out the same way.

You'll be OK, AP. Remodeling is a shock no matter how you slice it. Mind you, bringing things up to code means fewer horrible surprises in the future, not to mention a safer home with a better resale value.
We ended up replacing hardwood flooring in our master bath (it's as large as my studio, and started out that way) to discover there was no underflooring! But 3/4 inch red oak is damn sturdy, so we were never in any danger. This did explain why all the floorboards creak like crazy! And they leveled the floor. Um, it sloped about three inches of height in 30 feet! So we have a *higher* bathroom floor now.
No real hideous surprises--except that the skylights in our bedroom really needed replacing after all. Arrgh. More time spent in the guest room--been living out of a small pile of clothing since March, I think. Hopefully this will be more expeditious than the bathroom work.

Yeah, I had a feeling there were things that weren't exactly up to code in this house, and some things that make me wonder how on earth did the previous owners live here!? Like for example, the bathroom in my basement has no outlets, the tub is rusty and the paint is falling from the ceiling. And the kitchen...? *shudder* Let's just say I was prepared for it to be completely gutted: soft spots on the floor, those thin, plastic "tiles" that are falling apart, rotting cabinets, drawers with no bottom... now I'm starting to think if this may be why we got the house so relatively cheap (for NYC standards I mean)... lots of crap to get done. Thanks for your words though, I really need some encouragement right now.Speaking of your bathroom, how did that go? I remember falling in love with the slate pics you had posted, :) And the floor had pebbles, right? For massaging the tired feet?

We're missing some bits and bobs in the master bath--like the door to the shower and the shower heads. >_< and the hardware and glass for cabinetry. Little things that make life liveable, you know. LOL!
I spent yesterday getting the Elfa closet installed. The attic walk-in closet now has a passthrough to the bathroom, with a pocket door. We ended up re-doing the floor up in there as well, painting, installing the Elfa, and--best part--a little tiled spot where the cat's covered potty will sit, in one corner. WITH its own exhaust fan, which is attached to a Big Red Button. The sort you have to push, you know. :D Because we're impish.
The basement & main floor have been redone and are sweet. Yes, the slate! We're both very fond of genuine and good-quality materials, whatever they are, so the stone makes us very happy. I was really dying to repaint--15 years with progressively more grungy rental-white paint, ugh. So we have colors now. I have a lovely low-key mauvey purple on two walls in my studio and I lurve it. It turns rather gray at night. The softly golden wall that runs downstairs, that looks lovely in the evening, too. I got all the colors by color sampling from a photo of our slate! So all the colors are harmonious, but not repetitive. We quite like it.

And another thing to check out are the scripts by Dimension3d (Rendo), Shaderworks/SemiDieu (RDNA) and Netherworks (RDNA and Rendo). Dimension3d has some free, but the pay-for are well worth it. Poser's amenability to creative scripting have made for some wonderful and very convenient additions.

Note also that getting conformed clothes to follow the morphs of a character is EASY in Poser using a text editor, always has been. And P9/PP2012 makes it even easier - most clothing will do it automagically when you drag-drop them onto a character. -
That all sounds so cool! O_O BUt you may have to enlighten me on the Elfa closet thingy. Never heard of it before... >_> <_<I kinda like keeping the walls and floor neutral colors then add bright pops here and there. My room currently has white walls and a cream colored carpet and I have black furniture and red bed coverings. I rather like it. Helps keep the room dark while I sleep during the day.

We hired a general contractor, that's how--because while we are fine at designing and know what we want, we knew we'd be better off with someone who could (a) coordinate the vast variety of workmen and (b) would have the relationships to get the good deals and get decent work out of people. And we know we are not home improvement experts.
Now, we were having a lot of things done, from roofing to plumbing, to A/C getting put in, to steam shower installation--thus my comment on variety of workers. AND you should be careful to get the proper permits from your local city hall--because you do want the inspectors to pass you, and you WILL be fined if you don't get permits and they find out. In Maryland, a Master Plumber has to do the work of installations, and a Master Electrician is required for any electrical installations. Taking out an old toilet and remounting a new one doesn't count, but that's about the extent of homeowner-allowed repairs, here. The whole permits/inspections thing is another reason to have a general contractor--they send someone down to get the papers, which MUST be posted where they can be seen from outside the house.

Like, for example, I use the M4 Muscle Morphs a lot and no clothing has them, at least not what I have. I'll deal with the text editing after I manage to at least get around Poser, :-P

Elfa - it's the Cadillac of organization solutions. Will wear forever, incredibly sturdy, and always looks nice, and you can go basic or fancy. We do basic, ourselves, and use their white enameled stuff.
There are knock-offs that you may find acceptable for your purposes. However, you can load the Elfa wall-hung shelves and the more you put on, the more stable it gets. Quite impressive.

Are you in Maryland? You'll want someone bonded and insured in your locality--still New York, right?
Angie's List isn't perfect, but it's an excellent place to start, and is locality-specific. Get your specifications together, call three contractors, and see what they say. I've subscribed for several years, and been reasonably successful with the businesses on the list--and woefully sorry with those that weren't.

I don't think it's required for moving cabinets in and out, around here, but plumbing installations where pipes are moved--yeah, that requires a Master Plumber and permitting. Ripping up floor and walls and putting in new--likely a building permit. Some folks fudge and are perfectly OK...but...there's a reason for permitting and working to code--keeps floods and fires down to a dull roar.
If you're just re-facing cabinets, putting in a new sink and faucets and replacing the appliances? Maybe new vinyl flooring? Eh, no big deal.

Truly? I think I have ALL of the Shaderworks scripts. The Utility 2.0 ones on sale are damned handy. I happen to LOVE the Poser library replacement--it doesn't stop the regular library from working, but makes things faster, generally. And it tweaks the interface to my liking.
Dimension3d (Ralf Sessler) makes wondersul standalone utilities, such as Morphing Cloths--which no Poser user should be without, really. And his Poser Editor, by god.
Netherworks has some handy stuff for making Materials Poses as well as general creativity scripts.
Oh, and if you ever start making content? Go check out PhilC's stuff (from his own site, PhilC.net). Poser Pocket Knife is money well spent.
Basically, you'll have to read the product descriptions and see what you really want help with.
