  • Those slate tiles are beautiful. Is Juan sitting in a shower tray with a sort of pebbled finish?
And I think I see a Wallee bot tucked in next to the fireplace :)

Hmm... Has Elynda been around recently? I wonder how she's doing.

eh hem...*cough*...i've been playing Skyrim. image and working on a mod for it with a friend.  But I've been lurking!

The weather's also been beautiful so  spending time outside.  (What is that bright round thing in the sky?)
Took 2 of my great nephews and 1 great niece to the park today and we flew kites.  Much fun was had.

    Thanks for noticing my absence!  {{hug}}
  • You've been having fun, Elynda! Is that possible without the forum? image  All fun must be reported through the proper channels!

Yep, you saw Wall-E. Furbees, SpongeBob, real Siamese angels (from a temple, back in the late 50s), Papa Ellegba, Cthulhu...

The floor of the shower is pebbles. Real pebbles. They come glued to a flexible mat and get grouted into place. Very nice on the feeties!

I really need to start working on the models for the anniversary invites too.
  • Sounds great, Elynda. At least your absence was partly because of good weather instead of due to bad weather.
  • Ooo.  Nice update!!

Invites to parents' 60th anniversary party.  I plan on making a champagne bottle, rings, glittery shiney pretty stuff, etc.  If all else fails, I'll use premade stuff. :)

Today I went to an Irish Tea with my mom.  I was one of 4 people under 60. :D

  • Very lovely colors, and I adore the shower tiles.  I envy you the huge rooms, we're in an apartment now, so it's a little cramped.  Trying to talk the boyfriend into buying a house this year.  Payment would be less than rent is here.  :P
  • Don't be fooled by the wide angle lens. The biggest room is 24' x 14', others much smaller. That little hallway is 5' x 5'. I go visit others and my house looks teensy...even if it sort of does go on forever inside. >.> We're not sure how that works, but it seems to.

Still, since we'd both spent a good decade in apartments prior to Kay buying this, it felt HUGE at the time. :)

Buying is good for one's capital and credit rating, and this is probably a decent time to do it!

ETA - besides, it's nice to be able to paint your walls the way you want and hang pictures where you want!

  • You underestimate the size of your interior.  The way that house is set up, you have an unusual amount of usable space -- as much as many much larger houses with more modern floor plans do.

I really can't wait for the rennovations to be completed so that I can come have a look.  The teaser photos are really kinda shocking, having been there before all the work began and knowing how those spaces were previously.
  • And if I clean off the dining room table, the event will be attended by singing angels. image

I do agree that some of the modern floor plans seem to have an awful lot of purposefully unusable space, for some unknowable reason. The truly mid-century post WWII homes could be more cramped--back in the day when children played outside and only Mother ever worked in the kitchen. Theoretically. *snicker* Although I've lived in mid-50s homes that were perfectly roomy.

Kay says that our house was built in '49, but it was done on a 1930s-ish plan; perhaps the builder (local chap, lived in the house and built ones sorta like it on either side) just liked the bungalow-style floor plan. Later occupants renovated and pulled out the wall between the living and dining room (wasn't weight-bearing anyhow) and finished half the basement. Also raised the roofline in the center of the top floor, bringing dormers into full rooms, which has made a nice studio and sleeping space and that big ol' bathroom.

I think we particularly like its twisty spaces that lead into big open ones.

  • Once upon a time, when I was married to my first husband, we had an old stately craftsman era house with 3 floors and a basement. The living room was huge.. 24 x 14 with a fireplace.  Huge kitchen with built in china cabinet, dining room with benches you could store things in below a huge window, my own office, my ex hubby had an office on the 3rd floor.  4 huge bedrooms, one converted into a laundry upstairs.

Even had a courtyard and a brick driveway.  Gorgeous.  But, when the marriage went kaput.. there went that.  I miss the house.. do not miss him.  LOL!  He was a douche!

  • Your place looks wonderful, Nano... those rooms are perfectly cut as we would say in germany... much space for everything. :) My place is small, I used to live in a bigger place but last december I moved to a small apartment with my son since my husband kicked us out for a girlfriend that could have been his daughter... but then - this place might be small but big enough for my boy and me... and very very comfrotable it is. :) If anyone is interested I might show a little of it.
  • Yea.. love those slate tiles in the bathroom!
  • Oh wow Nan that looks amazing. I LOVE that fireplace! The cute little idols are wonderful too!
  • The Siamese Angels? :D  I love them. My dad got them in Thailand, when we lived there when I was a baby. My mom stole them in their divorce about 30 years ago. When she died, I got them back. He said they could stay with me and watch over us, so I am very happy!

Yes, there are rather a lot of household gods there. Maybe you were talking about Cthulhu and Mr. Lovecraft and Papa Ellegua...! More characters, but without so many accompanying stories to those particular figures.

The slate just makes me want to roll over and wave my paws in the air. I surely love it. I sneak in there and just run my hands over it when nobody's looking. >.>

  • Hi, all! I'm back from the dead. Sort off. Hair's still ruffled, but I'm recovering. Work kicked my butt emotionally, but I think I may have achieved some small victories that were very satisfying.

That said, question to those that know. I recently discovered the P.I.C.K creator. Are the addons Python based? Can they be made to work elsewhere?

  • Well I guess you guys might see me sometime soon, after two years of wonderful service, I must reformat my Win 7. Time to clean house, so tonight is spent transferring over 160 gigs of content (over 560,000 items) all my pics, music, and yes, pornz, then hopefully I will start the day with a fresh new os. Wish me luck!

this was the best response i saw online to a controversial

demand people's social media login passwords, like for that
    facebook site and such...

this guy should be a CEO:

'When you walk into the interview with one of these companies, pre-empt
the situation by politely saying "If you don't mind, I would like my
potential bosses Facebook password so I can decide if working with them
    will be a good fit."'

i posted it here because you know what would happen to it over in the commons! here we still can behave like intelligent adults. :)

  • Hey Ladyfur,

No the Guildhall is back in the store now permanently - so he can download whenever it's convenient.

The DH is one of my old Redouse models yes.  The thing is, it loads into position for the rest of the house, which is why it's all the way over there >>

But sure, get her to drop me an email at jack at jacktomalin.com and I'll try and sort it out.

    Cheers!
  • A friend brought this to my attention. Apparently this jeans label has caused quite an outcry in the UK :)

It's been castigated for being sexist, but it also implies everyone is in a hetero relationship!!

  • I'm sorry, but I thought that was funny as kriff-all.  >.<

People really DO need to lighten up.  I say this as a woman who finds REAL sexism to be repugnant.  I think there's still more than enough real slams against women and other groups to get the hackles up over that nobody should be looking for more perceived insults to get all ragey about.

I couldn't agree more. But spot the irony: we are looking a a British product - I've been living over here for 9 years now, and never have I met people who were more compulsive liers in the name of courtesy. For them to produce this is funny. But then again, British humour can be quite rude and in your face, and let's not forget that the man who owns the company is not exactly known for his open mind, philanthropy and love for his fellow creatures. In fact, my other half used to work for one of Mr Green's companies in an HR capacity and told me that when the government raised the minimum wage, Mr Green wrote a letter to his employees making it sound as if he magnanimous fella that he is, decided out of the goodness of his heart to give them a raise, so that their salary would now reflect the minimum wage.
  • jack: thank you. i have let her know.
i'll let shadow know about the guildhall
    once he's awake :) whew.

dyla: i didn't read the article yet, but...
if it's british, shouldn't it read:

'give it to yer' missus, you lazy git,
because you'll just make a right
mess of the whole job, you know
    you will.'

    instead? ;)

Dream Home stuff comes in placed to fit all the other bits as if they were there. There IS a pose that will center it, but damn me if I can remember where I got that! It's somewhere in the DAZ forums.
