Mind you, full-length side-laced pants...I'd have to rethink the panel construction to get it into the same place. There's an easier way to do that!

I don't think 2010 has the scatter node--which would make a difference here. Yeah, that's new, according to the Poser blurb at Smith-Micro:  "New Shader nodes enable SubSurface Scattering for luminescent skin tones, FastScattering for bioluminescent effects and a Tri-specular Hair Shader for more appealing trans-mapped hair highlights."

I get a free pass with the Arty stuff with my step-mom, since we've been to life drawing classes together. It's a non-issue. And she gets pinups, too. And yes, that's the line where we both retreat into circumspection. It is understood that jollies are gotten somehow, but we do not feel the need to explore this issue with relatives. image

  • Touché. Especially recently there has been a odd spell of brothel related art work, I admit it.
  • My family simply thinks I'm that " Whackjob" that has to make things difficult (meaning the subject matter on most of my works) since both my mother and grandfather worked on portraits, landscapes, or animals.

Me? I wanna dig out the dark and nasty crap under the steps, stomp on it, water it, and taunt it until it harfs up on my boots and see what I can do with it. ........speaking of...Exit, stage left!
"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying that I approved of it. " Mark Twain.
  • My paternal grandmother did landscapes (mostly) in either pastels or oils.
My paternal grandfather did copper wire stuff, the kind you mount on backing in a frame.
My maternal grandmother did "glue bits of colored glass into a wicker frame" stuff, and knitting.
My mother did several quilts, some with a bit of embroidery. She still does a bit of knitting.
Hmmm..... No wonder I've a small bit of talent and a good bit of interest in art. Hardly any training though.
  • Well, let's think... My mum's dad was a carpenter( actually a wheelwright), my mum is a master seamstress who in recent years has developed a passion for quilting, my sister is a trained photographer. No wonder I do what I do , but the I 've always sketched so doing 3d art is just a natural progression for me.

EDIT: but like terre I have no formal training other than what you get in school up to tenth grade, I.e. Senior four in the Scottish system.
  • My biological gramma was a professional artist so I guess that's where I get it.  As to 3d renders, my family enjoys looking at what I create (at least the stuff I actually show them) but they think it's a weird hobby.  Hubby doesn't mind because at least I'm at home and he knows what I'm doing with my time.  But he would love if I made some money at it.

Another reason why we're the superior gender. We can get away with being the strange, but endearing cat-lady (cat-guy? cat-dude? doesn't work, does it?), or the middle-aged woman who still plays with dolls. image

Speaking of clothes, I was also thinking of full-length lace-up pants. Somehow the shorts just want to be stretched all the way down the leg.

    Suspiro ergo sum.

    Cool. :)
No direct link to professional art here. I do have an anonymous sideways link though. Sometim in the 50s or early 60s when my dad was working as an archaeologist for the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology at the University of New Mexico he was approached by a lady who introduced herself (don't remember her name) as a potter from one of the big pueblos (I think he said Acoma). She said that she wanted to make pottery with authentic South Western Indian designs but nobody knew what the designs that their ancestors had used looked like. That was part of what was culturally lost in the Spanish conquest. She asked him if he would copy the designs off of the pots and shards they were digging up and give the copies to her, and he did. :)

  • *blink* Well, let me get the underwear out to you guys, and then the laced shorts, and we'll see what you think.

I would doubt that items made with weight-mapping in poser (clothing items) would work in Studio. But what about hybrids? Poser can do that. Hmm. Problematical, I think. *ponders*

  • We're just an odd family all around. My brothers are pretty good at art, the older at painting, the younger in pencil (he's a physicist, and his inspirational Einstein drawings were hilarious). But I always assumed that it came from their mother's side, because my dad couldn't draw.

And my sisters were pretty good with pencils and pens, too, fast sketchers with definite individual styles (especially the middle sister, she was quite the individual in everything she did). But I always assumed that it came from their father's side, because Mom never could draw a straight line (well, actually, she could do straight, but had trouble with curves and angles...)

But somehow, I'm the one doing actual official book covers. As for my daughters, well, their grandma's home was a work of art, and so was her embroidery. So no surprise they have a sense of color and style and lines -- and that the oldest is aiming at an art-related career.
    Suspiro ergo sum.
  • Just because we need more weird underwear.

  • Nan - Undies are looking fabulous, and to answer your question, no, Poser weight mapping won't work in studio at all. I've seen attempts and they're not pretty. Won't even work in DS4. I think the type of weight mapping used in both programs is different. As for this Studio user, do what you like best, :) I'm planning on getting Poser later on anyway, so weight mapping works, I'll just have to wait a bit.

That said, I'm off to post a complaint. Morning all.
  • I think they're traditionally mapped, as is M4, whose bones they're using. 0_o  Oh, the puns... Anyhow, there's a JCM in there that's not working satisfactorily, which I may erase from the current version before releasing. Really, fiddling can continue indefinitely.
