A show is good! You never know...mostly it's hard to get things shown. So many artists, so few willing walls. And the great unwashed public usually doesn't have any idea of the value of art. *eyeroll*

The main thing is to keep at it. Showing, or trying to, if you like that.

  • I am very much looking forward to this. I'm lucky to have been given the opportunity to show some of my pieces. Guess it's one of the boni you get from making friends with people that have been part of the gay scene here for years. It opens doors one might otherwise never consider walking through.
  • Sounds like it'll be fun, if nothing else!

  • Finished the final one tonight! I know it could have been more ballad ex, the big light in the background annoys me a bit, but I'm done fiddling. This one took the entire day to render because of ploys, sss and IDLsimage

  • I still really like that one, Raet.
  • So do I, very well done!

  • Thanks guys. I hope it is getting across tenderness rather than SEX!!!
  • Yes it is. Good job. :)
  • Yah.

It's the hand language more than anything.  Very love-intimate rather than merely lust-intimate.
  • The emotive quality is very well and plainly stated, Raet.  This shows an intimate moment between hearts, not in the heat of the moment monkey sex.

  • Yes I do, I fiddled some more with their beads. The bottom one I filled in the bit between his first and second chin with beard. The top one I tried but his bristly beard wasn't exactly playing ball. Not sure what todo about the two light spots on the side under the covers.of the seemingly glowing tshirt hem.
  • I was seeing hard lines around the spikes in the 'hawk, as well as penetration of hair through fingers. Tiny things, but there. The lines around the 'hawk may be visible to me because of monitor differences. >.>

  • raet, ok, when i cock my head to the left i can see what you see. if i look at it straight on, because of the lighting, i thought mowhawk guy was being interrogated. i did not see anything sexual going on there. that may just be because of my own background as a survivor. our pasts color how we view the world, i think. also, my monitor settings are dark because of my yet again reaggrivated concussion so i can't see details that well. the lighting is very effective.

Oh I know.  And Black Sails has just ended for the year.  >.<
  • Thanks, Ladyfur, it's great to have you back. It is certainly true, and applies to any kind of reading, wether it is pictures or the written word, or even music: our past experiences colour our interpretations of the present - and how could it be any different? We make sense of the world based on what we know, or believe to know and understand. Consequently, we always bring our own backstory to a text.
To me, for instance, the homosexual subtext in the eighties classic Chariots of Fire was blatant, just as it is obvious for me that the narrator of The Great Gastby actually is in love with Gatsby but cannot show his desires outright being trapped in the circumstances of 1930s American sensibilities and morals; all of this however is down to my own vita was a gay man. Others might not perceive these nuances as keenly as they lack my experience. Similarly, as a teenager i read a lot of fantasy and gothic fiction and was used to seeing illustrations thereof containing skulls and the like. When in art class we were looking at paintings and discussed their compositions etc my eyes naturally attuned to the shapes of skulls therefore interpreted otherwise unsuspecting clouds as skulls. My teacher was a tad worried, i can tell you but I maintain they were there and not a figment of a morbid teenager's over active psyche.

There is a degree of tension in the picture, and i can see why it reads to you as interrogation.
  • There's tension there, alright. :D You can feel the energy of the push/pull. Delightful!

Such a tension feels very masculine to me as my knowledge of such is that even when there's great affection between men, there's always some element of...it's not conflict, exactly.  It's sort of like competition, as if they are always aware of Who Is On Top. Or, Where I Belong In This Situation.  It's as if you could leave a room full of guys alone for an hour, and when you came back, they would have automatically sorted themselves into a hierarchy or territories, without even being conscious of it. --To risk generalizing!

All but one bracelet and the watch.  All of the rings, the rubber bracelet and the necklace (which you can only barely see) were CT Studio goodies.
  • I was overwhelmed by the watch! Very cool. We should get Jim's watch on some big punky bands like that.

Yes we should.  That one came from an M4 character set.  It was much chunkier and more "metal" than the svelte, classy Frolex.
  • I really like that watch myself!  I want one.  lol  Nan, those boots...niiice work on the textures, too.

Which I'm going to do. And must have the eyebrows, too. I gave Mint3d a heads-up, just in case. Hopefully s/he will not fuss. I asked if the tat was available on a photoshop layer or something. Hey, why not.

She kindly provided me a way to isolate the tat and therefore move it to a different skin. Turns out it was an old DAZ product...which she no longer has access to in their store. Go figure.

My dynamic tee shirt adorns the Elfy One as well. And he ripped the sleeves off. *sigh*
