  • Are you postworking your shadows?  Those look really good.
  • Looks like getting on her bad side is a VERY bad thing.

Nope.  It's just a matter of setting up the lighting.

  • With PP2014, you can use the "raytrace preview" window to see how raytraced shadows will fall before you actually do your main render.  With practice, however, you'll find you rarely need it.

  • Well, it works with depth-mapped shadows, too, but I usually use raytraced shadows, as their umbra and penumbra are independent of the physical width of the scene relative to the light-camera, and as such can be more precisely controlled.

  • For example, here's a scene I did where I used a backdrop from the DOD, loaded a prop and shaped it to match the stone (the dimensions of which can be looked up online), tweaked the camera angle and focal length to get the perspective right (mainly by matching my tombstone with the one in the background image), then tweaked the lights until the shadows fell the same way and had approximately the same intensity.  Set the tombstone to shadow-catching only, pose the character, throw in some IDL and SSS, and hey, there we are.

  • Ah, well, I suppose none of it is anything that I haven't said many times before, and it's all stuff everyone knows, so I'll shut up, now. ;-)

  • PP2014 seems to have a lot of nifty things that my older version lacks.  Clearly I need to upgrade.  >.<

Maybe once the savings account is less drained.

  • The humorous thing being that I actually like Poser Pro now.  LOL!
  • "The New Studio"

Well, we didn't WANT to move, but the old studio burned down yesterday.
Rose makes the best of things, as usual, and wants me to take her
picture.  And her camera sucks, and mine is sitting under a pile of
    rubble.  Ah, well.
