Works in Progress
• Time for bed- started the process of body hair and more color variations to his skin texture. Just a start, but I like it so far even if there's much more work to do. I have a good basis to finish off this, the stubble, and finalize the ink. Then it will be back to the scars and a possible second, older head morph. ;)

• That stubble is really subtle. I hadn't noticed the purple lacrimals! LOL

Is it the contrast in the eyes, or does his green eye have a larger pupil? *scratches head*

• lol- AS (forum moderator for Poser threads at Rendo) pointed them out to me- and I noticed right off. So I fixed'em. XD

The eyes...well, yes. It's the actual texture, believe it or not. I am going to see about softening the inner ring of the blue, but I liked the oddness of the pupil sizes right off. *grin* I'mma trying to keep it.

Keep it. It's very Bowie-esque. He has the same thing going on in his eyes (or did) with the unevenly sized pupils and the parti-colored irises.
• Yup- his pupils were the result from a fight over a girl and it damaged his eye. If I remember correctly, he has depth perception issues and I believe he said once he can see only brownish color from that eye from the result.

XD I'm definitely keepin' it.

• kinda both? lol thank you, terre!

• You're right about eye damage giving depth perception issues. Due to an infection several years ago which damaged the cornea of my left eye, I don't have full binocular vision which makes determining any kind of depth or distance challenging. Something that remains challenging for me is when people very neatly tile steps so that the edge of the tile forms the edge of the riser. Common here in the med where sloping streets have stepped pavements. It means I have no idea where the steps are, especially at night since they run together as a flat surface. I literally have to feel for the edge of each step with my foot :)
Also took a while to be able to judge when pouring liquids into glasses etc.

Bullnose tile of a slightly different color on the edges would help a lot, wouldn't it? :^\

• The red and blue eyes I really like! And the air-brushed makeup, of course.

The completely abstract brows are disconcerting--to me. If it looked like paint over natural brows (somehow), that would be nifty. But I like realism, generally, as you know.

Designfera had a bunch of mech/tech circles at one point that would be cool on eyes or faces...if anyone did a closeup. Because cool eyes sorta vanish in most images that aren't.

Don't mind me. One beer, and I'm pondering out loud. *eyeroll at self*

• I find myself agreeing with Nan. Also, I like that black lipstick. The lack of plastic gloss on that is wonderful.
• So do I. lol I have some of those, I think. I could look into that for a third contact option-definitely.

I agreed on the eyebrows as well. You can't see'em much, but I put them back and added some darkening color within them to accent the eye make up. AND thank you, Wayii- I never had uber gloss on my 'stick while out clubbing unless ....no...I never did. *grin* I won't put the 3D man in crap I wouldn't wear. ;)

So, I did a portrait of sorts (really cold lighting here). Working on another make up.

• Updates: all will have the option to add the black lips (separately) onto each style. I have the red one rendering atm. I've used IBL rather than the IDL in the previous renders to test out different lighting. ...and I just noticed something- the blue option does have the darker brow as the yellow, I rendered that prior to changing the diffuse texture map. lol

• The makeup is amazing. I especially like the red. I also love the 'cold' version of the render because I like the way he looks with the pale skin and the way his eye makeup picks up the green in the tattoo.

So, having been disappointed in the past when characters/skins don't look like the promo images and having seen the 'before' image, think I would caution against too much postwork.

• I don't use postwork in any of the promos I've done- and Macabre's state that. I do put in that there is SSS and I use IDL in each as well.

Same with all of these images, here and at the Rendo thread. If I use post work for lighting or artistic renders, I state that- otherwise it's all raw render images I post. I don't want that issue- getting disappointed. I've had it too. ;)

Thank you, dyla! I'm getting the close up on the contact options as well. They only affect the iris and pupil, so they should be able to be used with any other eye texture/set out there for M4 and V4 as well.

Also- Though the RedWhite has the grayblue iris with it, so as it's shown, that will be how it loads. One contact, one regular iris that is part of the diffuse map.

• Well, just having the black lips by themselves gave me issues- I just don't wanna mess with it. I ended up simply making an option with and without the black lips on each of the make up options instead. Got a full "Yellow" version rendering, then I'mma going to bed. XD

• One of the full make up options that will be for Trystan- IDL and SSS, raw Poser 10 render.

...something happened to his mouth, I'll have to look into that later. For now, sleep!

• Now those are finished, the eyes are updated (I forgot to fix the lacs in the regular eyes-oi), it's time to really work on the stubble and torso hair. This way I can go onto working the Glasgow Smile and finish the process of updating all of the files in the editor.
"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying that I approved of it. " Mark Twain.
• So- Stubble update AND a thing I noticed on his ear. Wth? *Sigh* I'm going to have to go back into his displacement maps and see what that is.

• Ok- this is weird.

The crack in both ears is there no matter what I do. I've taken off the displacement to see if it was that. It was still there. I switched and took off the bump completely and left the displacement on, it was still there. I took both the bump and displacement off of M4, and it's STILL there.

I rendered it with one infinite light, no IDL, it's still there (the other renders were all IDL).
First render is no bump/displacement in IDL.
Second is no bump/displacement with no IDL, just the one infinite light.

What the hell?

• I started a new scene, (Closed Poser and re-started the program first) with a new M4 and did the process of injecting the morph sets, the dialed morph, the texture set and rendered again (IDL again). They aren’t so obvious, but the cracking of his ears is still there. I’m not sure what the heck is wrong, but it’s really frustrating to me since I’ve not had this issue before in making M4 characters using any light rig up until now.

• I really don't know what to tell you about that ear issue. >.< I can see why it would be making you crazy though.
• FINALLY. I found an old tutorial here : http://www.acrionx.com/3d_modelling_poser_tutorials/?pg=how_to_make_INJ_REM_Pose_files_for_Poser_custom_character_face_morphs

I used the morph brush to smooth out that area on both ears, followed the directions in that tutorial (though I did not make the

remove option) and he now has an ear fix inj dial on his head parameters! I've been trying to figure that out for years and no matter

what I tried it didn't click. I saved that tut into a Win document for later reference.

"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying that I approved of it. " Mark Twain.
• AS from Rendo stated he found the same issue on the M4 base, no morphs, base textures. Seems there is a mesh issue. But - it's fixed now. XDimage
other ear example.jpg

• So, on a new M4 with the morphs injected, maps imported, blahblah- the injection dial went just where I wanted it (in his head parameters) and works perfectly. This was a quick test portrait with different lighting just to make sure. Slapped some hair on him as well.

I'm going to do the same thing with the scarring- use the morph brush to polish off what the maps will provide and make a dial for that as well. Currently rendering a test on the re-vamped (and re-amped) stubble maps with the same light rig to see how that works. If I'm successful, onto the scarring (and removing some of the stubble where the scars will be) and then it'll be the process of updating all of my files, checking things and making the icons/readme file! Getting closer.
