I do have the Daz T-shirt, but looking at it there isn't a single template, but several according to the different styles ie crew cut, long sleeve, short sleeve etc. and even sizes !!.
So no worries. I just wanted to check whether or not I'd be able to use the textures, but didn't release the Daz T was quite so complex :(

Yeah, the Studio dynamics are a bit of a mess. They can't use transparencies like conforming garments because the draping will be off (the invisible part is still there and draping, and supporting the rest of the garment), so for each look there needs to be a separate mesh. And they require separate software to make them work, no just an .obj file and animation, like Poser's.
A simple dynamic sheet for Studio requires special handling, whereas a high-poly plane primitive in Poser will work nicely.

I really haven't looked at the DAZ tee shirt, but it sounds like they shipped the equivalent of several shirts in varying sizes in one packet. Woof.
To be fair,the physics of anything dynamic with "invisible" bits is just not going to be the same as having true holes in it if one thinks about it. For little tears, transparency can fake it pretty well. I also have made separate shirts for long sleeves, sleeveless, and so on.

Still, the DAZ dynamics are not .obj files, so they're harder to work with.

To be honest, I think I've used the daz dynamics once, and that not too successfully, hence my not realising about the T-shirt. If I want to drape my clothes I use the marvellous designer software and make my own. My texturing skills are not that great however, so I tend to rely on tiles.

My guys are smiling about this tee - here's one of them doing it. Look at the folds! I'm amazed.
Okay, I need to explain that this amount of unusual squee is due to the fact that I've had some bad experiences with dynamics. I used it to put folds into a couple of tee shirts that I made myself for David. They were supposed to end up draping elegantly over him in a natural way. What actually happened was that they broke at the neck and fell to pieces. Oops. I think it was probably the original grouping that was at fault, but it put me off the whole DC thing.

I hear you on feeling at sea with dynamics. It took Fugazi1968 tutorials and Xaa's kind help to get my bearings.
About your previous shirt: (For others who came in late) In order to form body parts for conforming to the bones, the mesh is actually cut into discrete islands--which don't stay together when they're clothified.
And you have to guess about what needs to be constrained or not, and so forth. This makes converting to dynamics problematic for regular conforming shirts, certainly. So yeah, if you made mesh island groups (instead of just material groups), that was going to fall to bits. :(
Dynamic clothing, on the other hand, isn't grouped like conformers--it's all basically one piece. The trick in this tee's single mesh is making the mesh dense enough in the right places but not overdoing it.
Hopefully, the PDF tutorial also made the work flow smoother for you as well.
People do have issues with some made-for dynamic clothing--when it's got soft-decoration, hard-decoration, and constrained groups (etc.) which aren't designed too well. Or the mesh is just badly formed. And some things--like pants--are going to be pretty crunchy in the folds when sitting, no matter what, unless they're obscenely poly-heavy (and thus memory-intensive). It's also difficult to get sharp creases to stick in dynamic clothing! Thus, some fiddly details are best left to displacement maps, normal maps, and bump maps.
